She is ready to conquer. Morissette Amon, tagged as Asia’s Phoenix, has dominated most parts of Asia with her unparalleled talent for the last several years.
She has established her own brand by elevating her trademarks in the industry, not to mention her exceptional whistle registers with ease and supreme vocals breaks and squeaks, making her stand out among the rest. In 2017, she has started her international career as a co-host for the Philippines in a talent show hosted by Michael Bolton named “Bolt Of Talent”. Despite not winning the talent show (The Voice Philippines Season 1) she competed in 2013, Bolton and the rest of the staff of the said show has given Morissette the chance to be a part of it.
A year after this, Morissette was personally hand-picked by the organization of the well-known festival in Korea named “Asia Song Festival.” She is lined-up with some of the biggest KPOP groups existing in Korea naming EXO, MAMAMOO to name a few. Amon’s performance became the most liked performance in this festival with more than 4 Million hearts on V-live’s channel and has catered a larger audience, making her name relevant in South Korea that paved the way for her to be the first Filipina to have her own V-Live Channel. In 2018, while Morissette’s career is on its way to the top, she was invited once more by the management of the Asia Song Festival to perform again for the reason that Morissette really made a massive impact on her performance last 2017. Morissette is and the only Filipino singer to be invited to this huge event twice in a row to represent the Philippines. With Morissette’s bravery to show to the Korean audience how much she adores the country and so as its culture, she sang a Korean song (Resignation), making her own version by transposing the lyrics into English Language and sang the last part of the song in Hangul (Korean Language) that enabled to touch the hearts of the Koreans, including the boyband group SEVENTEEN.
In 2019, Morissette was personally chosen by Disney to officially record the theme song for the remake of Aladdin for the Philippine version. This has been one of the vital foundations of her career for it gave her the platform to be known outside of Asia. The soundtrack they recorded, along with Darren Espanto has reached different countries and it charted in Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music internationally up to date. More so, this is the time where Morissette has also been busy and stayed for almost 1 month in Singapore due to a new talent search in Asia called “Asian Dream”. This time, she is not just a co-host but also a mentor together with Michael Bolton. As time went by, she kicked-off the year 2020 as she is one of the Filipino talents who represented the Philippines for Asian Television Awards.
Recently, amidst the pandemic that we are facing today, it did not stop for Morissette to raise the Philippine flag and showcase her talent to the rest of the world as she was on the line up for One Love Asia, the biggest online charity concert event dedicated for Asian artists across Asia to support Asia in the fight against COVID-19.
Aside from representing the Philippines to various festivals and massive events internationally, Morissette’s music has captured the attention of the people around the world including her originals like “Akin Ka Na Lang” that is very popular not just in Asia but across the country. With more than 108 Million views on YouTube and more than 20 Million streams on Spotify, it is one of those songs that introduced OPM to other countries and foreigners to make covers of the song (in their own language) and likewise, embracing the song despite the language barriers. Not to mention that her originals were used in international competitions just like “Akin Ka Na Lang” was performed by a Malaysian Singer at WCOPA 2018 and “You and I” that was used by an Indonesian auditionee in Indonesian Idol but there were no footages online for the reason that it was performed in a house audition.
We cannot deny the fact that for a short span of time, Morissette has been blessed and achieved all of these things with prayers, love, support, and by believing in her own-self and capabilities. She is one of those artists that has manifested that “dreams do really come true.” But for Morissette, these career-achievements are only just the beginning as her manager, David Cosico has been traveling all over the US, Asia, and Europe meeting key people on a number of projects lined up for Morissette. We may not know when all of these big projects will be unveiled, but one thing is for sure, Morissette will keep on breaking barriers as she is on her way to the international scene, where she belongs.
